The last field season has started

Updates from Västerbotten, Sweden
  • In May, the County Administrative Board of Västerbotten started the field season by putting out the floating cover on top of the invasive waterweed (Elodea canadensis) in a bay on the coast of Västerbotten. The work was done together with the County Administrative Board of Norrbotten and Skellefteå Municipality. The area that was covered in 2024 was still free from vegetation, which is promising news.
  • In May we also mapped pike juveniles in coastal lagoons.
  • In the beginning of July we took samples of the threatened species Fourleaf Mare’s tail (Hippuris tetraphylla) and the samples are sent to Oulu University for genetic studies and cultivation experiments.
