Länsstyrelsen Norrbotten uses snorkeling and drop video to surevey shallow marine bottoms during the field season (july-september). 

The aim is to find out what grows on the bottoms, where natural values, endangered species and invasive species can be found. 

The bottoms are primarily soft which is a prerequisite for the growth of different species of vascular plants and charophytes.
